croup is crap

my sewing has pretty much been non existent this last few months.  At our last Guild meeting a couple of weeks back, I took all of my sewing stuff and machine and only managed to fanny around with the layout of some blocks for the entire day.  So this past weekend, I made myself get a grip and get a move on with some really late bee blocks and also Laughing Boy had promised a full sewing day for me on Sunday so I had to make the most of it right?

So, Daniela from the Modern Mavericks wanted 2 pink wonky triangles on a grey background. I made 3...

The ever patient Judy from QATWII wanted sherbert colours (and a 14" block)...she got flying geese in maybe a little brighter colours than she had hoped for...

The bulk of this block was made on Saturday when the wee man was on a marathon afternoon nap.  By Saturday evening,  it was clear that this was because he was not very well.  By Sunday evening, we were in A&E as he was struggling to breathe.  He was diagnosed with the very Victorian croup, given some stuff and is now breathing easier but super clingy. The crappiest thing about croup, you ask? The Peppa Pig marathons!  My soul is slowly decaying....

Anyhow, I have some serious plans for this week (if all goes well).  I have a 1st birthday quilt to finish before Saturday so I can give it to the young lad on his second birthday #laterthanidhopedobvs.  And I've kind of promised some seriously complicated PP blocks for a couple of bee recipients #probsnextweek. Oh and my teaching starts this week so not much on then...

  2. Oh croup is awful, and frightening if you don't know what it is. Despite what they say about steam helping what seemed to work for us was wrapping up and going outside into the cool air. Hope he is all better very soon and sympathy re Peppa Pig xx

  3. Oh, poor wee man. Croup is very frightening. I've been spared Peppa Pig ( after my time ) but remember similar marathons with a child laid on my chest watching mindless crap. Hope he improves soon.

  9. Poor Wee Man! Hope he's feeling better soon, if only to save you from the terror of Peppa Pig. Love the sherbet block!

  11. I thought that my little baby girl had croup at the weekend too (mainly as her cousin has it at the mo too) But after covering her sister in sick on Monday night and me last night I decided it was definitely time for the doctor. It seems that I had misdiagnosed her - she has a chest infection and had I taken her to the doctors earlier the antibiotics would have worked by now and she most probably wouldn't have treated daddy to the vomit treatment tonight! Ah well, live and learn. Hope your wee man gets better soon and that Peppa Pig has some kind of accident.
