bananas

Back from our hols, refreshed (sort of) and raring to go (within reason obvs.).  The wee man was an absolute star on the flights so we can now think of planning another holiday - huzzah.

he's got all the gear!
Unfortunately I can no longer ignore his love of bananas after he chowed down a whole bunch over there so I put on my big girl pants and bought some *shudder* and now I peel them *dry boak* and cut them up for him *a mother's love has no limits*. Still it's better than biscuits #it'snot.  For most of my life, I have had a pathological hatred of bananas and they are usually referred to as "the spawn of Satan" so you can appreciate that this is a HUGE thing for me.  That and the fact that I took my cardigan off once or twice (SPF50, natch).... the holiday was a game changer!

Which is why I'm gonna try some paper piecing tonight, for Ana's Bumblie Bee block.  Wish me luck!

In the meantime, I've done some blocks for the FQR Kinky Bee's contribution to this year's Siblings Together quilt drive...

boys blocks
girls blocks
Now, where are those big pants?

  2. Ha ha! My husband hates bananas too - says it is because he got sent to his Grandma's when he had chickenpox and she had a bowl of bananas. He tried one, liked it, ate the entire bunch, was sick copiously, has never touched one since. Glad to hear the holiday was a success - you are braver than I am - we are going on a plane for the first time in 6 years next month!

  3. Brilliant :0)
We are just trying to pluck up courage to go on holiday with the littlest dandelion. He is a grumpy old man most of the time but p'raphs the sun'll do him good.
Good luck with the paper piecing - you'll have a blast, I bet.

  7. Lovely lovely blocks. It is the act of eating bananas that does me in. I have to leave the room. The noise is just to much all that squelching - minging!!!!!!!!

  10. I know the feeling - the wee chap adores tuna mayonnaise but I can't stand the stuff and the smell makes me want to hurl. But I make it for him (and then feel like I need to disinfect myself)!
Glad the holiday went well and love you blocks :-)

  11. Hee, hee did you have a deep psychological trauma as a child to induce this pathology? Obviously, it's not inherited or you wouldn't be in this state. Love the blocks and the paperpiecing looks good so far. Glad you had a good holiday, I had a great one too with my DD, though within 5 mins of returning all the feeling of rest and relaxation disappeared.

  12. hahaha! I have a hatred of cheese that can match yours of bananas! You are a better mummy than me though, as Dan doesn't get much cheese and thankfully he's not that keen either! Sounds like your holiday was awesome. Enjoy planning the next one (don't forget the grandparents). Lovely blocks too XXXXXX

  13. *snorts* Now I don't enjoy bananas but that is a level of hatred I have never witnessed for the weird, yellow fruit. They do have an odd texture, don't they?
