Finished Quilts

sta-a-a-a-r, that's what they (don't) call me....

...has been running through my head all evening.  As I mentioned in my last post the Modern She Made 3 swap focuses on stars and as I am now in the grips of paper piecing fever, I made this....

it looks better in person
I used a PP pattern called Good Luck star (available free on Craftsy) but modified it as I wanted a simpler colour palette.  24 separate sections with a hole in the middle (not user error for once!) .  I'm planning to add a cascade of smaller (easier!) stars, perhaps following the movement of this star, in different colours.  My partner would like a mini quilt or a sewing machine cover - would it be madness to make one that could be used as the other?

Now where are my dungarees?  or have I got the wrong video?!

  1. Cool! Not madness - I did that for a swap last year (although I've no idea if it gets used as a mini...) But then again, if I did it perhaps it is madness?

  2. Madness but in a cool way! Not as mad as piecing that star. Go you! It looks amazing.

  3. Love your star! And I also always associate Kiki Dee with dungarees :-)

  4. Oh no! What a song to get stuck in your head! Love the block - the starburst effect of the background looks great. I think it has too many pieces to get on my list though - I don't have the patience!

  7. Ha,ha you're completely bonkers, had you had a couple of glasses of vino when you wrote this post, it really made me giggle! Love the star block, it's really cool, but a multi use mini (fnarr) or machine cover- that's just crazy talk, i love it! :o)

  9. Looks lovely, but I'm intrigued as to why you need a hole in the middle.

  10. Your paper-piecing star continues to rise - absolutely gorgeous. It'd better be for me ;) I have made no progress on my swap item seeing as my partner wants things I have never made (nor really want to), like a clock, camera bag or a weekend bag. Not happy.

I will raise your Kiki Dee with this, because there is no stopping you now..... And it's sunny here and warm :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VgYczUH-QWQ

  13. Sounds very much like madness to me -hearing voices in your head (even if it is Kikki Dee) and delusions (mini quilt and sewing machine cover in one article) combined with obsessive behaviour (all that paper piecing)...I suppose it could just be the wine. Great result though!
