Lots of firsts

At 6.03pm, on this day last year, the wee man entered the world and filled it with such joy...

from this beautiful baby...

to this beautiful toddler (almost)
We went out for lunch to celebrate and a very very rare thing happened. A photo of the three of us!

thank you auntie sylvie x
Not only that but I finished the Sparkler and it is in the washing machine as I type.  I will reveal it tomorrow.

I've been hanging out for my 100th post to do my first ever giveaway but as I'm on a slow blog vibe AND it's the wee man's birthday AND I finished the sparkler, I've decided today is the day.

So here's the prize.....

it's just gathering dust on the shelf and deserves a better home
Yup that's right - this book could be yours, no matter where you live.  Two chances.
  1. First one, leave a comment and let me know what accompanies you whilst you're sewing (I'm a 6Music gal myself but am always looking for inspiration)
  2. Follow my blog and let me know that you do
I'll let Mr Random Number Generator choose the winner in two weeks time (my dad is visiting next weekend so I can't promise to be around).  If you feel like letting people know about the giveaway, then I'd be really grateful.  If not, then that's ok too.  **GIVEAWAY NOW CLOSED**

Enjoy what's left of the weekend.  I'm off to hug my boys x

  1. Happy birthday wee man!
Usually when I sew, I can hear Hubs tapping away on his laptop and whatever's on TV :-)

  4. Happy Birthday ickle gorgeous chap.

When I am sewing, I am usually listening to Radio 2. Dermot O'Leary is my favourite stitchy companion ;0P

I am thinking of grabbing some spoken books next time I visit the library, as I don't get much time to read at the moment and it would be a way of keeping up with some literature.

  11. I'm a follower too and my dog Jax accompanies whilst I sew -- but he normally sits and stares at me begging for a walk instead of just keeping me company and laying down!!

  12. What a lovely picture of the three of you

  13. How can you bear to part with that book Moira? Lovely picture - in fact I have just realised that you are the kind lady who let me borrow your machine in Frame Purses at the Retreat because the Pfaff I was on went mad and did lots of loopy stitches at the back! I don't usually quilt to music - I just do lots of clockwatching as I generally only have a little window here and there.

Oh great giveaway prize!! The thing that accompanies my sewing the most is the sound of the kiidlet shouting Mummy ;-)

  16. The TV is usually on in the adjoining room when I sew. If I'm alone in the house though I may stick a CD on but it could be anything.

  17. My son is usually with me when I sew. He's 14 months.

  20. When I remember, I put spotify on, and either listen to old music from when I was young and trendy! Or, I listen (over and over and over again) to whatever I am currently into. It's recently been a Florence and the machine phase x

  28. Ah, happy 1st birthday little man! He's gorgeous Moira! Just think about what you were doing this time last year! I normally have two cats with me when I sew and a glass of wine, maybe the telly on if it's in the evening, but I came back from hols to only one cat, Alf has gone AWOL. Have a lovely rest of the day! Jo xx

  29. I like renting TV series' from LoveFilm and watching episodes on my laptop while I sew. Current favourites are House and Private Practice (Grey's Anatomy spin off) but I'm expecting to go back to Larkrise once the winter gets here. Congratulations and thank you for the giveaway.

  30. And I just subscribed in my feed reader (Google) because it's always nice to find a few more UK based blogs to read. Found you through Dandelion Daydreams.

  33. Congratulations - love the sparkler, well done on getting through that first year and still finding time to sew!
Hmm I currently have tremendous tractors audio cd (great for a nearly 3yr old) but choice is peace and quiet or in the evenings I often find something on iplayer to keep me company, or a radio 4 drama!

  34. Happy Birthday to your wee man!
I always have Radio 4 on while I'm sewing!

  35. ooh sorry I'm late! Happy Birthday wee man!! He's so adorable :)

Silence is what accompanies me! (well except for the loud noise of the sewing machine!!). I can't hear anything above that anyway! I also enjoy the peace after the crazy shouts of the children all day.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Of course I'm a follower... that really wants that book ;) x

    ReplyDelete
  37. Hi there! Just found you via Tanya! I'm listening to music via spotify at the mo! But I don't mind silence either when I sew! Thanks for the giveaway! jxo

  38. Aww, happy birthday little man!!

What usually accompanies my sewing is the sound of my kids playing trains and sneaking to play in the kitchen cupboards!! Or the sound of silence during naptime...

    ReplyDelete
  39. If I'm alone ..oooh then it is the TV or CBC radio one ( a bit like radio 4 in the UK). I like to hear talking :) If the kids and hubby are home good luck getting any sewing done!

  40. Lovely firsts, congrats on the milestones. I usually sew to music but at a pinch background TV noise will do. Thanks for the chance to win.

  41. I'm a happy follower of your blog, thanks.

  42. I usually have the gentle snoring from Bertie, my elderly Bichon, in the background. I work in a noisy environment so I like quiet when I am playing.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I sometimes listen to classical music but most of the time my machine is too loud.
